More Musk

Another Musk Ox sketch from the Pilgrim Monument Museum. It is the only thing that I devoted multiple pages to. Super cute! The museum also had a couple of taxidermied polar bears, a walrus head, a white wolf, random pelagic birds and a creepy snowy owl. I don't remember them serving musk ox steaks at the first thanksgiving . Did I sleep through that part of my American History class?

Almost nothing to show for it...

I think I actually took a bona fide vacation. The fam and I headed to the Armpit of the Cape (geographically speaking) for a big slice of nothing. While I carried my sketchbook everywhere - from the back porch to road trips -  the sketches are largely quick outlines that I let my kids color-in and embellish. Or they are odd juxtapositions, like the sample above. I don't really know what a taxidermied musk ox was doing in the museum at the base of the Pilgrim Monument in P-town. But after climbing to the top on 116 steps & 60 ramps, then back down again in 10 minutes, I didn't really care. I just wanted to sit down and rest.
I suppose that is what a vacation is for.

Yo, Peeps!

Last year we went camping over easter weekend and developed this recipe. It was so memorable, we plan to reenact it in the back yard tonight! It is fun to watch their little icing faces melt away.....

The New Exhibit is on the Walls!

This is one of three images I have in the fabulous GNSI California group show Art of Nature at the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History. I once again served as curator, as well as having my art on the wall. There are 67 images from 28 amazing artists! Myself and a cadre of (mostly) museum volunteers hung the show this morning, and it looks fantastic! The above image is the cover piece from my new field guide, Golden Gate Beach Wrack, which will be for sale in the museum gift shop.

Run, don't walk! Swim, boat, surf, bike, bus or carpool your way there! Official dates of the show 4/7-6/2.
