a memoriable weekend

Some quick sketches done at the Oregon Zoo during our Mem Day Roadtrip. I am the driver when we go places and rarely get to pull the sketchbook out (because everyone knows that its not safe to drive and draw). It was, therefore, extra special to be in the company of the ever-sketchy Katura who arranged activities so that I could scribble away.
The zoo was a blast. We took the street car into a mountain, rode the elevator 200ft up to the zoo entrance. The zoo winds through foresty landscaping, and seemingly, in and out of caves with viewing windows to the animals. I didn't really like the cave bit, but it is likely a practical thing with all of the rain they get in the Pacific North West. My favorites were the hippos, Tiny & Bubbles, who kept pushing rocks around to rest their chins on. Adorable! Oh, and the fruit bats. Fuzzy mice with wings. Yay!

  1. And it was lovely scribbling along with you! Love how your hippo turned out, yes indeed.
